Module 4
Introduction
During all this time in the course, I have learned so much; things that I never thought to know, things that are innovative and very helpful for teachers and students. It is great to think that at the beginning of the course, I didn´t know that AI could be used in the area of education, and now I know how to use it for this purpose in many different ways. In the last modules, I have learned many tools that use AI for educational purposes, and module 4 is no exception. In this module, we saw how to create assessments using AI, and the creation of rubric criteria by using different tools.
I had good expectations for module 4 as the creation of an assessment is not easy. Also, the creation of rubrics and personalized bots for giving feedback to students, or using AI for students to practice their English skills. Using tools such as LLM like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, as well as platforms such as magic school, question well, quizziz, etc. In this module, we see all these tools, how to use them for teaching, and how to use them for students to improve their skills.
The principal topic for module 4 rounds around assessments. We as teachers waste a lot of our free time creating assessments for our students. We have to create the evaluation, how it will be, the rubric, the topics that will be evaluated, etc. But AI came to help people, and at the same time to help us save time and facilitate our work. There are a lot of tools that can help us with this topic; in this module, we see some of them.
In the creation of assessments, teachers also have to create the questions to evaluate the students’ works, the first tool I learned about is “question well”. It is a free AI question generator designed for educators. You just have to input a topic, add learning objectives, or even use the links for YouTube videos (the videos must have a script); and the AI will create the assessment with multiple-choice questions, fill in the blanks, etc. The best option this AI has is that you can export the questions to other platforms such as Kahoot, Quizziz, and Google Forms. In that way, you will have a complete assessment in some minutes and even in a platform in which students can enter and do the assessment.
Another AI can be “Twee”. It is a very complete AI that can be helpful for different things but it also can be used for creating questions for an assessment. It can generate questions, dialogues, stories, articles, and more for any topic and level. As with the other platforms, you can also use YouTube videos to create questions. It can help even giving suggestions for lesson plans and creating summaries even with answer keys. Besides, this area, another well-known platform for creating assessments is Quizziz, which lately has added AI for creating questions. You can save a lot of time by using this AI and having your assessments on time.
AI can help in summative assessments; which are accumulative evaluations presented at the end of a unit or semester. Tools like magic school can be very helpful in this kind of evaluation. This platform includes a section in which you can create a complete project, the rubric, and the questions, in fewer words you can create a complete evaluation using this AI. Also, if you want to use ChatGPT for this, just create a good prompt and you will get the complete evaluation. In addition, if you want to create rubrics, you can use “Quick Rubric”.
In the last part of assessments, you need to give feedback to your students. AI can help you to do this in an easier manner. Using ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude; We can provide personalized feedback to students. The key to creating this kind of feedback is using a good prompt, just tell the AI to act as a professional teacher and to give feedback about the student’s work. You can do this type of feedback in writing, reading comprehension, speaking, and listening.
ChatGPT allows students to have personalized feedback. If you tell your students to write sentences in the royal order of adjectives, and you need to give feedback to them after they deliver their work; you can use ChatGPT. In this case, you have to train this AI by giving it certain directions or instructions, and manually giving it the information it will need for giving the feedback to the students. Create a prompt with those characteristics; AI has to act as a teacher and give clear and detailed feedback. You can do the same in different AIs like Gemini, Copilot, and Claude. Finally, you can program ChatGPT using a prompt for doing this action or others over and over.
This module has taught me a lot; how to use AI to facilitate the creation of evaluations, even to provide feedback to students. Finishing this module, and as well the complete course, feels very rewarding; I have learned how to use plenty of tools for my classes, all of which will simplify my life as a teacher, and will help me to create more interactive and mirthful classes.
Obviously, I will use all this information in the best way possible by creating better lesson plans, activities, games, and evaluations for my students. I am sure that from now on my classes will be the best; modern, interactive, enjoyable, and very informative. Students will learn more if I use this AI as the course has taught me, because AI not only helps teachers but also students; and some students can use it to solve their lives and by doing their homework without putting any effort. So, you have to use it in the correct way, as a tutor, in the class and monitoring them; besides, teaching them how to use it, not for doing their work but for helping them to improve something they themselves created.

hi Miguel, i already read your bloog and let me tellyou that it is a great blog. also im in agreement with you at the moment to say that not only this module fourth but also all the course is surprising me because we learn many important things or tools that we can apply in a future as teachers. this was a very important module becuase we learned -something very important regarding to assesment and feedback and that is great.
ResponderEliminarHi Miguel. I like your bolg because it offers a practical view of the use of AI in educational assessment and feedback. It highlights tools like Magic School and ChatGPT for creating assessments and providing personalized feedback. It emphasizes the importance of good prompts for effective results. The suggestion of scheduling AI for repetitive tasks is useful for optimizing educators' time. Overall, it presents current and applicable ideas for integrating AI into educational processes.
ResponderEliminarHello, Miguel! I agree with you that assessment is really important to evaluate students performance but it is important to create a good prompt to obtain the results that we want to assess students.
ResponderEliminarHello Miguel, I share your mind of applying this content in classes. I think that this course has been a advantage for us since it allows us to prepare ourselves and allows us to promote implementation of AI in teaching. Imagine we are the firts group that uses a different form of creating classes and activities with repertoire. It is maybe the first time our major has this content available. Our group is a small group of teachers with new tools to work with. Hope this content became available for all of our colleages behind us, so we can start a new generation of educators.
